Description

The Wukongopteridae is a recently discovered family of non-pterodactyloid pterosaurs, and the majority of them hail from China's Tiaojishan Formation. They are all pterosaurs with a combination of basal and derived features and had crests of keratinous skin on their heads. Kunpengopterus was a typical member of its family, a small pterosaur similar in size to a robin but with long and narrow wings. It probably preyed on insects and other small animals.
